Day 2: Into the Amazon

Fly to Puerto Maldonado and board a motorized canoe to journey deep into the lush southern Amazon. Arrive at your remote eco-lodge nestled in the rainforest. After lunch, choose from optional guided activities or simply relax as you soak in the sounds of the jungle.

Day 3: Jungle Trails & Nocturnal Canoe Ride

Venture out with your naturalist guide along rainforest trails, learning about medicinal plants, rubber trees, and cacao groves. At twilight, take a serene canoe ride across an Amazonian stream, listening for the call of howler monkeys and spotting nocturnal wildlife emerging from the shadows.

Day 4: Oxbow Lake & Canopy Walk

Visit a tranquil oxbow lake alive with caimans, hoatzins, and—if you’re lucky—giant river otters. Later, climb into the rainforest canopy on suspended walkways, where panoramic views reveal the jungle from a bird’s-eye perspective.

Day 5: Welcome to the Sacred Valley

Return by boat to Puerto Maldonado and board a plane to Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. Upon arrival, transfer directly to the Sacred Valley—a lower-altitude region perfect for acclimatization. Settle into a charming valley retreat surrounded by mountains and farmlands.

Day 6: Ancient Innovation in the Valley

Explore Pisac’s mountaintop ruins, where agricultural terraces wrap the hillside like ribbons of green and gold. Below, wander through the artisan market, alive with handwoven textiles and the scent of wood smoke. Continue to Moray, where circular depressions form a mysterious spiral into the earth—believed to be an ancient agricultural laboratory. End the day walking the salt pans of Maras, their crystalline pools glowing in the afternoon light.

Day 7: Ollantaytambo’s Living History
This morning, visit Ollantaytambo—one of the last towns still inhabited since Inca times. Its original stone streets and water canals remain intact, and its majestic terraces rise behind the village like a stone amphitheater. Explore the ancient fortress and enjoy a final rest before beginning your trek. Spend the night in the quiet countryside nearby.

Day 8: Inca Trail – Into the Mountains

Begin your sacred trek along the legendary Inca Trail. The trail weaves through cloud-kissed valleys, across ancient bridges, and beside ruins barely touched by time. Each step draws you deeper into the Andes. Camp tonight in a secluded mountain clearing, where your tent is waiting—already pitched and complete with cozy touches for a restful night beneath the stars.

Day 9: Dead Woman's Pass

This is the most demanding and rewarding day of the trail. Ascend stone steps through wind-swept puna grasslands and reach Dead Woman’s Pass, the highest point of the journey at 4,200 meters. Pause to take in the silence and scale of the mountains around you. After descending into a lush valley, arrive at camp—where warm drinks and stunning views await.

Day 10: Cloud Forest & Ruins

The trail continues through enchanted cloud forest, where moss hangs from trees and orchids cling to cliffs. Traverse ancient tunnels, climb steep stairways, and visit atmospheric ruins like Phuyupatamarca (“Town in the Clouds”) and Intipata. Camp near Wiñay Wayna, a beautiful terraced complex perched above the valley.

Day 11: Sunrise at the Sun Gate

Begin before dawn. In the early light, reach Inti Punku, the Sun Gate—just as the sun crests the horizon and Machu Picchu reveals itself in full majesty, veiled in golden mist. After a moment to take it in, descend into the citadel and explore it in-depth with your guide, learning its secrets and stories. That afternoon, take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and check in to your boutique hotel for a well-earned rest.

Day 12: Huayna Picchu & Return to Cuzco
Return to Machu Picchu for a second visit, or opt to hike the steep trail up Huayna Picchu—the iconic peak that rises like a sentinel behind the ruins. In the afternoon, board the train to Cuzco, watching the valley unfold beside the tracks. That evening, check into your elegant hotel in the city’s historic center.

Day 13: The Imperial City of Cuzco
Cuzco’s cobbled streets hold layers of history. Visit Koricancha, once the Inca Empire’s most sacred temple, now hidden beneath a colonial church. Wander through the cathedral with its gilded altars and Andean Christian art. Ascend to Sacsayhuamán, where stones the size of buses were laid with mathematical precision. As the sun sets, enjoy your final evening in Peru with a glass of wine on a quiet balcony overlooking the Plaza de Armas.

Day 14: Farewell Peru
